How is a Restaurant's Grade Calculated ?

Every restaurant gets a grade on iTaste. Although it is not a new concept, it enables the users to form an quick opinion.

Once a day, the system calculates a restaurant's average grade taking into accound the members' reputation. A new member doesn't have a big reputation within the community, so he will only have a small influence of a restaurant's average grade. On the other hand, if you have a high reputation (lots of followers & reviews and if you are very active) you will have a big impact on the system.

On iTaste, the grade isn't given by one single user: it's the average of all the community's grades. The average is recalculated at every rating and takes into account the iTaster's reputation (number of followers, ratings, comments, etc). It is also weighted, giving more say to active and high reputation members and less to new or inactive ones. who will have to gain the community's trust & use their real names to gain more influence. Once they get 100 Reputation Points, the little triangle signaling their evaluations will disappear!

In order to give you precise and independent reviews, iTaste developed a series of algorithms to assure that the restaurant owners or their competitors cannot manipulate restaurants' grades.

In order to give you precise and independent reviews, iTaste developed a series of algorithms to insure that the restaurant owners cannot intervene: they can neither pay to move up a ranking or delete an unflattering comment.

Now go and review your favourite restaurant and share your ratings with the whole iTaster community!

Deliciously yours,
