I love E&O- definitely one of my all-time favourite restaurants in London- superb food, good vibe and great service. There is also a cocktail bar at the front- just beware- wine is pretty pricey. Location is just of off Portabello in Notting Hill, and the restaurant itself oozes trendiness, even though the decor is in slight need of a freshen-up.
The food is great- some of my favourite small dishes include: chilli salt squid; sea bass sashimi with truffle oil; and duck and watermelon salad. The Asian green beans as a side are very tasty. If you have space for desert- the ginger cheesecake is divine.
Our waiter was great, explaining that I should have the sea bass before my prawns with white pepper- the the white pepper has such a strong taste, that it is difficult to really taste any sushi afterwards.
Everything feels like it is great value for money- until you get the bill at the end, and realise that it does all add up...
It is always really busy- so you will definitely need a reservation. You can reserve on Opentable- but I would recommend calling if there is no table available online. If you are dining with your family and young kids- they have an early seating which attracts a lot of young families.
Price of the wine. But really, there is not much to fault here.
