This is by far my favorite place in St. Gallen for a meal with friends. The menu includes soups, pasta and meats dishes but the main attraction is the Foccacia bar. It's a deli service concept, all the ingredients are presented in front of you and one goes through choosing the meat, cheese and sides of his choice. It will be difficult to choose from, as everything looks amazing. But every combination I've yet tried has been delicious. Looking for a low calorie meal? Try the salads which are also well portioned and great (same concept, choose your sides). The restaurant itself looks modern, with a rustic edge to it. The terrace is quaint, wooden benches are lined in the cute old city street, sheep skin blankets are provided when it's cool. The location is also very practical, right next to Marktplatz, direction Uni. The only negative thing I can think of is the service, which is sometimes a little rushed and cold. But what can one expect from Swiss Germans? :) The prices are fair, a medium size Focaccia is about 13 CHF and the salads range between 16 and 25 CHF. The warm dishes are probably around 22 CHF. PS: Don't pass on the tiramisu!
