Dire que ma dernière visite date d'il y a au moins 10 ans et pourtant j'avais un bon souvenir..... mais il y a des adresses auxquelles on ne pense pas de prime abord et c'est bien dommage. Ce soir pourtant, on y a pensé... mais en dernière minute. Qu'à cela ne tienne, ce n'est pas la grande foule et on est reçu et servi aux petits oignons.
Après un apéro avec un Viognier d'Ardèche intéressant, on opte pour le menu suggestion à 42.- : soupe de pois, champignons et magrets de canard, suivi de médaillons d'agneau et en dessert un bavarois fruits de la passion et coulis fraise. Le tout accompagné d'une Syrah Tentations de Bocquet-Thonney choisie parmi les vins de la région.
La soupe est servie tiède et est très savoureuse, la viande bien qu'un peu plus cuite que nos préférences est tendre et goûteuse, servie avec rostis maison, légumes frais et sauce légère qu'on est obligés de "saucer" ! Le dessert frais et léger ponctue parfaitement le repas.
Bref, une adresse confidentielle à ne révéler qu'à vos meilleurs amis pour un rapport qualité-prix exceptionnel. (la note inclut les cafés et un digestif et le petit chocolat maison servi avec les cafés est juste divin)
Certains diront que le décor est vieillot. Personnellement je le trouve désuet et charmant, totalement en accord avec le style bistrot de village !
Took some friends here because the atmosphere is so authentic and have just had one of my best restaurant experiences ever in Geneva. For the reasonable price of around 50 per person we had several plates of a delicious terrine which we shared, followed by separate dishes (5 people each with something different). We tasted each others food and nothing was anything less than wonderful, but with out-of-the-ordinary tastes and offerings. Very cosy atmosphere, personable service, and delicious food. You cannot beat this. If I had to vote for my favourite restaurant in Geneva today, this would get it hands down.
What a lovely experience. I was transported back to another time (I think with everyone that was in the restaurant). This is very much where the locals of Bernex and surroundings come for lunch. From the outside it looks like it might have been standing from the time when people drew up in horse carriages or even earlier. Inside, you definitely enter a time warp. You recognise a clientele that is certainly not young, that looks like it has been coming to the restaurant for years. People say goodbye and greet each other and the waiter seems to know the habits and favourites of a good number of customers. The food was of excellent value (menu 18Sfr for a Saturday lunch), the wine was from the region and reasonable in quality, and the food was very good with the emphasis on local cuisine rather than gastronomy. Absolutely perfect, delicious, warm, and cosy. The toilets are in a building on the exterior that is not heated so don't count on a luxury experience in this department but otherwise you have to come and have a meal here. It is unique in Geneva and well worth the detour if you are looking for something with soul, character, charm, and good food at reasonable prices. Could also be a place to come for a business lunch, with the family, or on a romantic outing. The waiter we had was extremely professional. For such a small place there was a very nice selection of wines.

Un bistrot de village qui ne paie pas de mine, mais qui offre une cuisine soignée et inventive et propose une terrasse au calme, à prix raisonnables.
Menu du jour à 50 francs env.
Menu dégustation à 70 francs env.
Plat à la carte à 38 francs env.
On pourrait facilement améliorer le mobilier de la terrasse, mais cela ne m'a pas dérangée. J'aurais apprécié en revanche pouvoir passer l'après-midi à discuter sur la terrasse sans qu'on nous fasse sentir qu'il était temps de partir en nous interrompant pour débarrasser tout et rien sur la table.
Un régal, nous y sommes allé pour fêter notre anniversaire de mariage, cadre romantique calme, le repas un menu dégustation avec les produits du moment, un régal! A refaire! et la truffe qu'on vous donne avec le café a tombé!
