Bica do Sapato est devenu une légende à Lisbonne. Des mêmes propriétaires que le superbe Papa Açorda, la Bica, comme il est familièrement connu, a une superbe situation « pied dans l’eau » sur le Tage. Une terrasse sur le fleuve, et l’intérieur baigné de lumière par des immenses baies vitrés. La déco résolument moderne avec beaucoup de touches des années 70. J’y avais organisé pour des amis (30 personnes) qui avaient passé un WE festif à Lisbonne. Le déjeuner (je haie le mot brunch) est un somptueux et énorme buffet (en réalité 3 buffets sur 3 tables différentes) . Un avec des plats froids d’inspiration portugaise, l’autre japonisant et nordique avec une énorme quantité de saumons de provenance différente, du flétan, des carpaccios de toutes sortes de poissons et de viandes et un dernier avec des plats chauds d’origine portugaise, sans compter un autre pour les desserts et fruits. Même dans les palaces les plus traditionnels (peut-être le Ritz à Paris et à Lisbonne) j’ai vu un buffet aussi complet et délicieux. Le service sans faute, rapide et souriant. Le tout d’un professionnalisme remarquable. Superbe adresse pour aller déjeuner ou diner (de la cuisine portugaise revisitée de qualité) et idéal pour un Dimanche de farniente à Lisbonne

I love the name of this restaurant which not only has a lovely sound but translates as the "toe (point) of the shoe". I have heard wonderful things about this restaurant for many years. The owners are the same ones that own the Pap' Acorda, another favourite eatery in Lisbon, and the Bica has just celebrated more than 10 years of existence with the decor changing from time to time. Located on the water front, the restaurant is divided into bar, brasserie and restaurant, although in decor there is little to differentiate the three parts. Done in a minimalist, contemporary style with huge volumes, interesting colours, and modernist touches, the decor itself and the setting by the sea is worth the visit alone. You can expect to see Lisbon's trendier denizens here and some of it more famous. The food is original and definitely unlike anything you will taste elsewhere in Portugal, so another reason to come. I was not overwhelmed by anything we ate in terms of taste, but everything was well presented, well served, well cooked, and definitely out of the ordinary. Price were very reasonable and the wine selection excellent. Definitely ask the waiter for suggestions if you are not familiar with the food.

No much, but I do think the food could take more risks with flavours.
