I am a BIG fan of Sunday lunch at Bumpkin in Notting Hill. This was my first time at the one in South Kensington- and it also happened to be Valentine’s day. I was quite relieved that it felt like any normal Sunday, that there was no ‘Lovers Menu’, but hearty food, and lots of groups of families and friends having a lazy Sunday lunch together. It’s such a buzzy atmosphere, and I love their rustic country-style décor, but I am must admit that I slightly prefer the one in Notting Hill.
The food is simple but wholesome and delicious. On Sundays, you will not get much choice. There are no starters on the menu (they do give you a complimentary appetizer- olive bread, terrine), but there are several main dishes (for the most part Sunday Roasts) to choose from. My lamb was divine, and I just love all their veg and trimmings. They the best roast potatoes in London.
Pecan brownie for desert was good, but a bit too soft for my liking.
But I really do love this place. I will be back again soon. Prices are also very reasonable.
Service is attentive and very friendly without being intrusive.
