Mark Hix was previously Chef Director of Caprice Holdings, he knows how to source the best ingredients and how to cook them simply and effectively. With this restaurant, Mark is showcasing how wonderful English food can be - and it certainly is impressive - starting with some of the best pork crackling while you peruse the menu - 28 day aged porterhouse steak on the bone, beef and oyster pie, game in season. A good selection of resonably priced wines, speciality beers, and even an English apple brandy. Ambiance is lively, full of people enjoying simple food done well.
Service has become patchy over the last year, still good when the right staff are there, but disappointing on a few occasions when the stalwarts were not there.
