The Ledbury

This is probably one of the best (if not the best) restaurants in London mainly thanks to its innovative and creative cuisine. The room is nice but a little bit too crowded and the service is excellent. We had the tasting menu and it was really delicious. We visited the restaurant 7 months ago and I don't remember anymore what we had (the only plate I remember is an excellent pink veal fillet). I only remember that we both liked all the dishes and that the tasting menu was very creative. The restaurant has 2 Michelin Stars and it fully deserves them. I highly recommend it!

The Ledbury

Very innovative and refined; Amazing value for money lunch menu @ £35 for 3-course. I had some root vegetables baked in salt and herbs with lardo di colonnata, hazelnuts and roasting juices: very neatly presented, crisp and great mix of flavors of the winter (see picture); then some ruby beef with parsley roots, grilled onions and pickled walnuts: basically a super-tender piece of meat cooked for 7h topped with a crust of sweetbread and a 'jus reduit' which was really delicious, and much lighter than expected although the portions are quite generous! Finally, a passion fruit souffle with a sauternes sorbet: out of this world! Great combination of flavors! WIne list is very diverse and remains affordable: from our chat with the sommelier, there is also a £25 corkage fee which is unheard of for a 2-Michelin star restaurant. Great selection of wines by the glass and half bottles. No dress code.

As there is no dress code, some customers are very laid back... maybe a little bit too much (...or maybe i'm a bit too uptight!).

The chef agreed to split every dish in two and serve it that way for both of us! kuddos for doing that. We therefore each tasted two starters, two main courses and two desserts! The celariac starter was extremely inventive and not at all usual. Then we moved on to the white truffles linguini, usually a classic. I have to say that the pasta were overcooked... a bit disapointing when you pay £20 extra for the dish. The pig tail and the partridge were absolutely delicious with the cromeski a absolute classic. The wine list has a very nice selection of half bottles and the sommelier directed us towards one of the cheapest red burgundy which was very nice. The three course menu is at a very reasonnable £60.

The setting is very pro but a bit unpersonnal. Overcook pasta is not acceptable for such a restaurant, especially if serving white truffles!
