Infos pratiques :Italien Nom du Chef: Giuseppe (Beppe) Lanzilotto Prix moyen du menu: 58 CHF
It's hard to believe that Giuseppe Lanzilotto used to work in IT... his love and passion for food prevailed and after attending the "Chef School" at the famous SlowFood University in Bra (Italy), he decided to attempt to make his dream become true and opened La Sorgente.
To join Giuseppe on his (ad)venture Christine also left her 9-5 job in a bank where she used to manage Customer Services...a talent that is well displayed at La Sorgente. Her wine recommendation (Nebbiolo) proved to be just the perfect match.
Predominantly Italian, Giuseppe's dishes are a variety of seasonal creations, inspired by the many regions of Italy - with a hint of Ticino, Savoie and Tyrol.
We had the pleasure to discover Valle d'Aosta specialties (see menu) and, for those who were less daring, home made chestnuts "maltagliati" and a superb tagliata di manzo on a rucola bed.
Desserts are not less important here: in addition to some seasonal suggestions (passion fruit Tirami Su) the classic "tortino al cioccolato" permanently finds its place on the menu card.
Worth mentioning: it's a cozy environment with only a few tables (seats approx. 20 indoors). The terrace has a magnificent view over Lake Lugano...I can already see myself having my apéro here in the Supper.
13 Gault Millau points are quite an achievement for such a young restaurant.
